The position:

SocialChorus is looking for a market development representative (MDR) to join our stellar team in downtown San Francisco and play a key role in our customer acquisition. The successful candidate will work with the marketing teams in three main capacities: lead generation, lead nurturing, and lead qualification via phone, social media and email.

The MDR at SocialChorus will play a pivotal role as we continue to augment our sales and marketing teams to support our fast-growing business. You must be comfortable acting independently in an unstructured environment, operate proactively and have a true passion for SocialChorus’ vision and mission.

An MDR is often the first point of customer contact and, as such, plays a vital role in establishing a very positive customer relationship, which will be maintained through the sales cycle and beyond. The successful candidate will be a self-starter, with a high-energy, positive phone presence, and a track record of effective, credible lead generation, follow-up and sales development.

The Market Development Representative will be responsible for the following:

  • Lead generation through target account selling, outbound cold calling, and calling on marketing-generated and inbound leads in order to set meetings for our sales executives.
  • High quality and high volume outreach is a must.
  • Disseminate opportunities to the sales team, educating sales team as necessary about the opportunity.
  • Schedule appointments for sales team with suitable qualified leads.
  • Provide weekly accurate, qualified sales opportunities to the sales team.
  • Input and track all prospecting and lead management activities in Salesforce.com.
  • Demonstrate thorough knowledge of SocialChorus product line and value proposition.
  • Proactively look for opportunities to improve and optimize end-to-end lead management and other sales and marketing processes.
  • Identify and understand trends within industries and customers, what makes a sales/marketing campaign successful and apply this knowledge to help generate further new business.
  • Applicants should have a passion for—and basic understanding of—the social marketing space, with a desire to learn more.
  • Remain knowledgeable and up-to-date on product, industry changes, and competitive landscape.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 1 year of lead generation or inside sales experience. Warm and cold calling experience required.
  • College degree required
  • Experience selling social and/or software-as-a-service preferred
  • Must have strong organizational skills
  • Must have great phone skills
  • Experience with salesforce.com or other CRM system
  • Ability to listen to customers and tailor future correspondence to address their needs.
  • Aggressively hunt for new sales opportunities and follows-up leads in a professional manner.
  • Desire and ability to think creatively, solve problems and use professional judgment
  • Comfortable learning on the fly
  • Must be independent, self-motivated and success-driven, yet willing to work within a team environment.
